Lives and works in Des Plaines Illinois
"An illustrational form tells you through the intelligence immediately what the forms is about, whereas a non-illustrational form works first upon sensation and then slowly leaks back into the fact."
As a painter, I'm most compelled to reflect on human loneliness, nature and studying its elements. Working on figurative paintings, I use a breath of irrationality in appearance without respecting the representational truth of form. None of my figures represent anybody. Everything is autobiographical and everything is a portrait, even if it's a tree. I work in a setting that is internal, never beyond my own experience.
But it is really the paint that communicates everything. The powerful physicality of the substance of paint gives the real exultation while working with spatula on canvas. That's my dear technique that makes representation stronger, more direct and more accurate in my paintings language.
